چکیده
The inflammatory process involves increased vascular permeability, protein denaturation, and membrane alteration. Flavonoids are a class of secondary metabolites with biological pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory. bitter leaf, Vernonia amygdalina (VA), used in various alternative medicine several countries, Indonesia. Chemical components VA leaf polyphenolic compounds, flavonoids, terpenes, coumarins. previous study exhibited that the anti-inflammatory activities plants closely related to levels polyphenols flavonoids. Therefore, this aimed evaluate activity determine total flavonoid-phenolic content ethanolic extract. extraction method maceration by ethanol as solvent. was measured denaturation inhibition properties. flavonoid phenolic were determined colorimetric Folin-Ciocalteu methods, which both procedures UV-Visible spectrophotometry at maximum wavelength. results showed extract has an effect half concentration (IC50) 346.23 μg/mL. leaves 25.62 mgQE/g extracts 21.47 mgGAE/g extract, respectively. Thus, can potentially be developed agent herbal medicine.
